Bruunari restored guitar
Italy (Sicily) / +/- 1930
It is not made in the DDR like I thought, but after a better inspection by experts it is made on the Ile of Sicily around 1930. The shield on the head does mention the shop were it is bought (Leipzieg) and that is why I made the wrong determination in my first description. For shure a collectors item. This guitar is completely restored. The back had some cracks which I had to repair with strokes of wood. Normaly I try to repair things without the use of extra material but in this case I had to. I took the back off, repaired it and replaced it with tentalones made out of balsa !! If you repair tops in this way it effects the sound, in this case it does not at all. On this guitar, no polisch or any varnisch is used!! Look at the beautiful heringbone inlayd roset and the multilayer binding and purfling. All my instruments have a straight neck and a comfortable touch. This is your opportunety to get a collectors item which is very well playable and sounds somewhat as a parlour. The sound is bright with good sustain and a bit of an echo. The unasual big soundhole of 100 mm gives a devote resonance like in a dome.
Mensuur; (scale) 64 cm Wood all solid: top; german spruce, back and sides; nut, neck; maple with with a palisander stripe, fretboard palisander, bridge; ebony (piramid), inlays; wood mother off pearl and caseïne!! Nut and sadle; bone. Fingerboard; 47 - 57 mm. Frets; 6 brass, 11 nickel, 17 in total !! Strings; Dáddario EJ46 Normal Tension ( I always put new strings on !!) It will probably take steelstrings but it will change the character of this instrument entirely!! Tuners; brass, good working. (I did put original brass ones on again) Distance; from the top of the 12 th fret to the bottom of the strings, 3,5 mm
